Magnesia Carbon Brick is a non-burning carbon composite refractory material made from high-melting point alkaline oxide magnesia and high-melting point carbon materials that are resistant to slag erosion, with various non-oxide additives added, and bound together with a carbonaceous binder.
Magnesia Carbon Brick is mainly used for lining in converters, AC electric arc furnaces, DC electric arc furnaces, and the slag line of ladles.
Magnesia Carbon Brick, as a composite refractory material, combines the anti-slag erosion properties of magnesia and the high thermal conductivity and low expansion properties of carbon, compensating for the poor spalling resistance of magnesia.
1. High-Temperature Resistance: Magnesia and carbon do not form eutectics at high temperatures, exhibiting excellent high-temperature performance.
2. Strong Resistance to Slag Erosion: Magnesia has strong resistance to alkaline and high-iron slags, while graphite has a high contact angle with slags and poor wettability.
3. Good Thermal Shock Resistance: Graphite has a high thermal conductivity, low linear expansion, and a small elastic modulus. Its strength increases with temperature, providing excellent resistance to thermal shock or rapid temperature changes.
4. Low High-Temperature Creep: Magnesia Carbon Brick's matrix consists of high-melting-point graphite and finely powdered magnesia, forming a robust carbon bond network between particles, preventing slip. There is little coalescence between graphite and magnesia, resulting in minimal liquid phase.
